On Thursday we took a visit up to Bicester Village, Oxford a high end designer outlet which includes the designer shops; Prada, Gucci, Chloé, Saint Laurent and many more. This trip was to initiate our research for the professional live project, gain inspiration and analyse the current fashion trends.
After a day of looking around the shops taking photos and talking to the members of staff I started to collect all my ideas together. When we were looking around the shops I recognised a lot of colour, clashing colours, bright oranges and blues stood out amongst the rest. Whether that be accessories, clothing or even the shop stands. A lot of the window displays have accessories on different height plinths in multiple different colours which looked really effective. These were positioned in-front of large styling photoshoot backdrops. This could be an idea as to how some items are displayed on the Graduate Fashion Week stand. Throughout the shops most of the clothing was hung on metal rails with white coat hangers rather than on mannequins, this gave a very modern finish to the whole shop appearance. They looked very classy with minimal hanging garments on each rail. This is something which could also be considered when displaying the clothing at the GFW show rather than on mannequins. Quite a lot of the shops used LED neon lights, with the name of the shop, their slogan or even hashtags. This was a really effective feature to the shops which would look great written in AUB or #InspiredAUB.
Overall Bicester Village was a great place for research, it has all the designer shops in one place. It was very inspiring for ideas for the stand and colour trends however not so much in the respect of styling and social media.
